Development Initiative

Dedicated to the comprehensive and sustainable development of the Philippines, the Development Initiative (formerly Kaunlaran) is the professional organization of the Development Studies and the development-oriented in De La Salle University-Manila. In 2019, the organization announced its rebranding, along with a fresh set of leaders and a newly formed constitution. The Development Initiative is now in its third year of operation, and it has steadily expanded its reach by introducing new members, projects, and partnerships throughout the last year. This year, the organization continues its efforts to achieve greater holistic development for the country in order to contribute to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

MISSION

To advocate and labor for relevant and integrative application of various academic disciplines and fields in the interest of Philippine Society, especially the poor, the marginalized, and the oppressed.

To promote awareness of development theory and practice, and the development of outstanding individuals and leaders towards responsible citizenship through experience and opportunities.

To help build and sustain various forms of university and community partnerships with the realization that we live only once and the need to let all our lives be a fruitful one.

VISION

A professional organization dedicated to the Development Studies students and the progress of Philippine Society. The premier association of development students, animated by faith, service, and communion, engaged in holistic development work and good governance for God, Self, and Country, dreaming and achieving a nation of empowered, educated, and progressive individuals and communities and a just society.
